Diet & Fitness

This is such a hard topic to write about because everyone’s mind, body, and lifestyle is different. If I’m going to be completely honest, a healthy body starts with a healthy mind. I know that sounds cliche’, but it couldn’t be more true. Starting any kind of lifestyle change, whether it be diet or fitness, is a huge commitment. You’re going to have to really focus on what you’re trying to accomplish and that may mean giving up some happy hours, bbq’s, or late night Netflix & chocolate binges! I can promise you that you will learn a lot about yourself, you will see HUGE CHANGES & you will be SO SO PROUD afterwards.

I am not about diets in the least, and I’ll be the first to admit that I drink way too much coffee, way too much wine, and way too many dirty martini’s when I’m in the mood! I eat way too many nuts, pieces of chocolate, and spoonfuls of almond butter, but I have been eating paleo for mostly 3 years now, and yes, during my pregnancies (maybe with about 40 pieces of carrot cake in those 9 months somewhere ;-), but more or less paleo. This may sound impossible to some of you, but you’ve got to take life in strides and enjoy the process! If you can’t enjoy the ride, what’s the point! I promise that it’s all in your mind. BELIEVE that you can, and you will.

Over the next month, maybe month and a half, I’m going to really focus on diet and fitness on the blog. We are about to go through a HUGE transition in the Stokes Family, I can share in aabboouutt 4 weeks ;-), and it’s been so hard for me to stay organized and to look presentable! I make diet & fitness a priority in my life, so these posts will go hand in hand with what I’m doing daily. Meaning…no makeup, workout clothes, i.e. MOM LIFE!

Here’s the breakdown of what I’ll be writing about over the next month or so; I’ll do my best to post each week. I’m not one for a lot of explanation and detail, so I’ll try to keep each post short and sweet. I know when I decide it’s time to lose weight, I literally want to start the next day, and then I tend to go backwards and  research. That may not be an ideal approach to some of you, but I’m all about ‘there’s no better time than the present’! Plus I find I need to start when I have the most motivation. If you sit around too long, you’ll come up with a million different excuses why you need to start tomorrow, or the next day, or the next month, or not at all!

With diets, (I don’t even like calling them diets because they really aren’t) you’ve got to find motivation somewhere. You have as much willpower as you think you will have. Those people that believe they have unlimited reserves are proven to be happier and to experience less stress in life!  Not kidding!  So, if buying that new piece of clothing motivates you not to stick your spoon in the ice cream for another bite, or if stepping outside for a quick 5 minute walk gets you away from the snack cabinet, talking to a friend on the phone etc. FIND what works for you and rely on that when things get tough 🙂
